Coral8 Engine Release 5.3 Offers New Features to Broaden Development Capabilities for Capital Markets Applications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 1, 2008 -- Coral8, Inc., a leading provider of Complex Event Processing (CEP) software, today announced the availability of Coral8 Engine Release 5.3.  Highlighting the new release are three new packaged adapters expanding the integration of Coral8-based CEP applications in capital markets environments – now including Kx Systems’ kdb+ database, Reuters Market Data System, and Microsoft Excel on the trader desktops.  Coral8 is the first CEP vendor to ship an adapter for the kdb+ database platform, providing out-of-the-box integration with high-speed tick data storage and management.

Kx Systems kdb+ Database Adapter
The Coral8 Adapter for kdb+ database expedites integration with high-speed real-time tick data and large volumes of historical tick data managed by Kx Systems kdb+ database.  Coral8’s high-performance database sub-query feature – with transparent, high-speed caching and data writing services for maintaining high throughput – seamlessly merges the kdb+ data into Coral8-based CEP applications.

Reuters Market Data System (RMDS) Adapter
The Coral8 Adapter for Reuters Market Data System (RMDS) enables high-speed, out-of-the-box integration with Reuters market and trade data.  The adapter supports the Reuters Foundation API (RFA) 6.0 for seamless integration with all next-generation Reuters RMDS services and allows dynamic, on-the-fly subscription changes for optimized use of Reuters data.

Microsoft Excel RTD Adapter
Coral8’s RTD Adapter for Excel enables quick and easy integration of real-time data streams flowing from Coral8 Engine to Microsoft Excel worksheets. The adapter is a RTD server that subscribes to real-time Coral8 streams and returns the data to cells in the Excel worksheet. The real-time data can come from any Coral8 server and data stream on the network to the desktops of users with proper rights and privileges.

Other new features in Coral8 Engine Release 5.3 include:

  • Enhancements to Coral’s Continuous Computation Language (CCL) that provide developers with the ability to easily capture messages expiring from a Window and allow them to execute operations at specified times;
  • New Java SDK based on Java 1.5 with improved performance and simplified API;
  • Embeddable chart functionality in Coral8 Portal gives developers the ability to embed dynamically generated charts in websites and applications, extending business users’ access to these charts.
